Joseph H. Brown III

Co-Owner, Joseph H. Brown Jr Funeral Home

Joseph is a 4th generation mortician at the oldest black funeral home in Baltimore. He recently completed construction of a 2 million-dollar facility dedicated to those families that choose to gather together with ceremony and witness the cremation of their loved one. Joseph is a Navy veteran First Class Hospital Corpsman. He earned his mortuary science degree from the University of the District of Columbia.

 

 

 

 


Jodi Clock

Jodi Clock, Business Development Director, ClearPoint Federal Bank & Trust. Jodi has worked in end-of-life planning professions since 1988. Her experience includes working for family and corporately owned funeral homes, advance planning companies, and casket manufacturers. Most recently, Jodi was president, owner and founder of Clock Timeless Pets, a pet loss center in Western Michigan. She was also a partner of Clock Funeral Home, a Selected Independent funeral home serving over 420 families each year. Focused on development and learning, Jodi has a master’s degree in Organizational Development from Spring Arbor University.

 

 


T. Scott Gilligan

Attorney, NFDA General Counsel

T. Scott Gilligan

Scott represents NFDA in matters dealing with the FTC Funeral Rule and other legal issues. He is an attorney at Gilligan Law Offices, Cincinnati, Ohio. Scott obtained his law degree from Georgetown University Law School in 1979. He has authored the latest update of Mortuary Law and conducts seminars across the country on FTC Funeral Rule compliance, employment law issues, OSHA requirements, ADA, and legal liabilities faced by death care professionals.

 

 

 


Welton Hong

Founder and Owner, Ring Ring Marketing

Welton is the author of Making Your Phone Ring with Internet Marketing for Funeral Homes, 2019 Edition. He specializes in helping independent funeral homes and other cremation providers grow their businesses by utilizing cutting-edge online marketing techniques. Mr. Hong is a regular contributor of articles about deathcare marketing to The Director, the official publication of the NFDA. Prior to starting Ring Ring Marketing, he was a senior technologist at R&D facilities for Intel, Sun Microsystems, and Oracle. Welton has a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

 

 


Mike Nicodemus

NFDA Vice President of Cremation Service

Mike Nicodemus, NFDA vice president of cremation services, is a licensed funeral director and former vice-president of cremation operations at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Homes & Crematory (with 8 locations in Tidewater, Virginia), where he worked for 34 years. Mike is a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and a member of the PIMS Board of Directors. He is a former president of the Cremation Association of North America (CANA) and was Chair of the CANA Operators Certification Program for 7 years. Mike writes articles for funeral industry trade publications and frequently presents cremation education programs at conferences across the country. He is the instructor for NFDA’s Cremation Certification Program.



Sammy G. Oakey III

Sammy represents the fifth generation of the Oakey family in the funeral profession. Sammy has been President of the firm since 1998. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors and serves on the Executive Committee of the firm. Sammy began his career with Oakey’s by working part-time while still in high school. He is a Roanoke native and a 1978 Patrick Henry High School graduate. Sammy continued his education at Ferrum College, graduating in 1982 and graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in 1984.

 

 



Randall L. Weagley, CFSP

President of Operations, Stauffer Funeral Home

Randy holds Funeral Director/Mortician Licenses in the State of Maryland, The Commonwealth of Virginia, and The District of Columbia. Over the years, Randy managed as many as 22 individual funeral homes and cemeteries before being promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer of Joseph Gawler’s Sons Funeral Directors in Washington, DC. He is now the President of Operations at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. in Frederick, Maryland. Stauffer Funeral Homes operates six facilities and a crematory with 75 employees.
