NFDA Cancels Advocacy Summit

Due to the unprecedented public health crisis caused by the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and current guidance from the White House and the CDC regarding public gatherings, NFDA is cancelling its Advocacy Summit scheduled for April 29-May 1. This cancellation includes all ancillary meetings and events scheduled prior to the Summit.

Cremation Certification Program Registration & Continental Breakfast

Members save $100 with Summit registration! 

7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Cremation Certification Program
Separate registration required.

7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Advocacy Summit Registration

12 - 3 p.m. Seasoned Summit Attendees*
*Experienced attendees can discuss the issues, get updates and pick-up materials for Congressional meetings at Registration. This is available for people who have contacted NFDA prior to the Advocacy Summit. This is not intended for first-time attendees.

Town Hall on FTC Rule & Model Reciprocity Law, Meet the Candidates, Orientation & Issues Briefings*
*If you are a first time attendee, have questions about logistics, or would like to hear our legislative issues discussed and explained, please attend this informative overview before we head off to the Welcome Reception.

While there are many great reasons to attend the NFDA Advocacy Summit, it is vital to the success of our advocacy efforts that you make one-on-one connections with Congressional leaders and staff during your time in Washington, D.C.  These Congressional meetings send a strong message to congressional offices about the importance of funeral service and NFDA uses these meetings to advance important legislation throughout the year.

Capitol Hill Club Access

NFDA is excited to offer Advocacy Summit attendees access to the exclusive Capitol Hill Club! Located just one block from the U.S. Capitol building, you will find mentors, knowledgeable guides and on-site debriefings. You can also unwind, grab a snack, and share your experiences in a brief video for social media and enjoy enticing refreshments.

 8 - 10:30 p.m. Moonlight Monument Tour
Departs from the Mayflower hotel
Separate registration required.

Experience our nation’s historical treasures under the enchanting light of the moon. Monuments and memorials such as the National Mall, Smithsonian museums, the Washington, Lincoln and various War Memorials, and others will show you a hauntingly beautiful side that can only be witnessed at night. An experienced tour guide will explain the significance of each site. Beer, wine and delectable desserts will be served on the tour bus as we explore Washington, D.C.

Congressional Cemetery and Arlington National Cemetery Tour

Separate registration required.

Get an up-close look at the Lincoln, Korean and Vietnam War and WWII Memorials through this unique tour. A knowledgeable guide will share the history behind each monument and its significance to not only D.C., but to American minds and hearts. We'll also visit our nation’s most sacred site, Arlington National Cemetery - a chronicle of American history, a monument to our nation’s war heroes and a sanctuary for those to visit lost loved ones.

At Arlington National Cemetery, you may choose to take the tram for a self-guided experience, explore with our private tour guide or join NFDA President Bryant Hightower for a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at 1:15 p.m. 

This emotional and inspiring look at our nation through its memorials to those who have served it will be an experience that you will cherish for years to come.

Your ticket includes: bus, licensed tour guide, optional included guided tour of Arlington National Cemetery and memorials, box lunch and transportation to Reagan International Airport after of the tour. A portion of this tour is subsidized by NFDA.
